| Today...hmm...MUCH IMPROVED. Today was such a good day- a great day actually. Like I said yesterday, band sets the tone for the day and it had a good tone. We rehersed like the best band in the country today and it really makes me proud to a part of such a great orginization. I think maybe the band is just really bad at mondays. Realllyyy badddd.
Its still uncontrollably cold. Today it felt like it was- uh- 40 degrees at the highest. There was also a fast wind so no telling how cold it actually felt. I can't remember the last time it was SO FREAKING COLD so early in the year. It went from 75 to 45 in one night. Maybe God is punkin' us....
I'm really really pumped about this Saturday. It's our band's second trip to *royality music* The Annual Contest of Champions. It's a little on the regal side, but it feels so good to see how you rank compared to the best bands in the state. Because Tennessee is STUPID there is no actual state competition, so for us little schools this is as close as we get. Last year we placed 7th out of 8 in finals, and IT WAS A BLAST. I really hope we perform to our potential this year and make it back to finals. Go Halls.
Hope this week keeps getting better, and maybe you'll get a little closer to me.

| So once again I find myself back at the computer and full of thoughts. Thank God for the blog. I haven't blogged in at least a month and I feel like all my thoughts are very jumbled in my head. This may come out readable or it could just be word vomit- but either way I'm relieved.
I'll start with today...seems like a good place to start. Today had a case of the Monday-Terribles. It was BADDD. However band goes on a certain day is generally how the whole day is. That hour and a half is a mircrocosm of the entire day. Today was probley 45 degrees- which is at least 20 degrees colder than yesterday. To say the least, everyone was in freak out mode. They weren't saying "holy crap- lets get better.."- instead they were saying "holy crap- its too cold to be outside." All I wanted to say is if the Cavaliers stopped when it got a little hot in the summer they would not be any good. And if our band program wants to try to be the best in the country then we cannot let a little weather get us down. And it did...ohh it did. The drumline did not sound terrible, but I guess we are not as affected as the hornline by the weather. At the end of class today Mr. Basham reamed out the hornline and it was alittle scary. VERY scary. He even went as far as to ask them if they wanted to quit right now- because he thought that they were playing that way.
I completely understand why he's so mad. Because he gave us an amazing show, he sees a TON of potential, but for now that's all it is- potential. On Saturday is C-O-C (the unofficial TN state championship) and I'm praying that we get our act together by then. Please dear band god- help me and my peers try harder...amen.
So anyway- it's hard for me to think of much else because band runs my life.
This four day weekend was pretty boring. I took the ACT *scary music* and it wasn't a total loss. If I make a 28 or so I'll be plenty happy. Everyone out there in computer land cross your fingers for me.
Today I found myself REALLY REALLY missing something. I've almost become used to the fact of missing it- but for some reason today was extra heavy on the distant side. I guess it sounds a little teen-angsty but now I understand where the mad punk singers are coming from...(jk jk). I'm just hoping that perseverance and patience will award me eventually. "All things happen for a reason..." I'll just keep telling myself that and hope for the best.
Till tomorrow...

| So I haven't blogged in the last 3 weeks, but today (and yesterday) and very blog-worty. I decided to shake the dust off the ol' blog and give 'er a whirl.
Yesterday, September 13, was my birthday. Rah rah-and all that. But it truly was one of my best days I've had in a while and it made me a very happy little boy. (Good Things #1 and #2)This semester I'm in two very difficult classes and I've been doing OK in them, but just OK. It seems that junior year the stress level grows and the classes get harder as well- and for some that can be the fatal step of their high school career. So Physics and U.S. History are totally kicking my butt and I'm constantly treading water just to stay afloat. Well, I say all that to announce a 99 on a U. S. History test and a 100 (yes...thats perfect my friend) on a Physics test. Getting those two grades back made my week 550 times better already. (Good Thing #3)And then in band we got our new uni's. HOORAY! They are quite amazing and we actually look like a modern/good band. Goodbye 1991- Hello 2005. (Good Thing #4)So I'm pretty much throwing the party of the century..Boom Boom Room Part Dos. My dad and I were getting ready for the big day and he gets a call from his best friend. "Hey Sam- its Nick. I was digging around in my basement and I found my old Pioneer Stereo system. Would you and little Sam wanna come get it and try it out at the party?" Of course my dad said heck yes and we went to get it. When we got to Nick's house, a 6 year old stereo in great condition was waiting for us for only $100. Where Nick, on the other hand, paid around $600 for it. Happy Birthday to Me!! (And Finally Good Thing #5) On my way home I got a call and found out that in the spring the band is GOING TO NEW YORK CITY!!! AHHHHH!!!! Enough said.
